Mobile Wireless Internet Connection

22 03 2008

It has finally happened. I got a mobile wireless internet connection though my mobile service AT&T.

I got the USBConnnect 881. What that means I am not sure, but what it does for me is that it allows me to get online anywhere there is mobile cell phone service.

For the last year I have been jumping on whatever wireless connection I could. This has been a reasonable solution for me since I live in San Francisco and above a cafe that provides free wireless connection. Thank you very much Cafe Royale! (If you are in SF go here for a great taste of the city)

But the strategy of hopping on free wireless is not always consistent. So I opted to get the mobile connection. It cost $60/mo. Since I do not have a ground line this is a deal. I have consistent, if not slow at times, connection.

Something to think about if you want to be mobile and free from your home connection.

So tonight I am hanging out listening to The Police – Ghost in the Machine on my1970’s record player, surfing the net and posting this blog through my USBConnect 881!

Have fun – Be Free.

Online Marketing Success

16 03 2008

Online marketing in my opinion is getting easier and easier…but many would disagree.

I have been working with BasicBlouse.com to help them increase their traffic to their fashion blog http://www.careerfashion.wordpress.com/.

Using just one basic technique they have increased their daily traffic by 5 time!

They are tying in current events to their topic which is fashion for career women.

The technique is simple. At BasicBlouse.com they are writing simple blog entries with titles that are relevant to the hot current events. For example:

Hillary Takes Questions About Spitzer In Pennsylvania With Style

In this entry they posted a photo of Hillary Clinton. Next they did a review of what Hillary was wearing.

Simple and effective.

Next of course is the most important step: conversion of traffic to paying customers.

Monthly Update 3-08

11 03 2008

Ugh– the monthly updates have turned into quarterly updates…hmm? Well, it is what it is, so here it goes.

Here is my financial update:

The $1000.00/month online gig has not yet panned out…and probably won’t, but who knows. I am not investing time, money nor emotion in it.  It still could work out.

This week I increased my gross monthly mobile income by $497.00.  So as of now my net monthly mobile income is at $1315.00.

Through my meetup group I was able to generate some one time income from a seminar.  I will be scheduling and organizing more of these then seeing how I can automate the whole process so I do not need to be present.

Only $740 shy of being completely mobile!  I am making a big push over the next 2-4 weeks to not only meet but surpass my minimum.  I want to surpass it by about 30% so as to be able to build up a cushion of cash and insure against that crazy thing called life that jumps up and surprises us from time to time.

I am also talking to a couple of companies about setting up online marketing architecture and systems for them.  These would be mostly mobile and a not ongoing, but the would definitely help me reach full mobility sooner.

Here is a picture from the Seminar that I organized and Ted Podromou ran on “How to Super Charge Your Blog.”

Concept to Cash Flow

27 02 2008

Hey everybody!

The SF Webeneur Meetup group is one year old!  The last Tuesday of March we will be having a birthday party…but more about that later.

So as you know, a year ago I started the webeneur meetup.  I did it to see what people wanted and needed in setting up and running an online business.

The overwhelming response has been “How do I start?” and “What do I do next?”

So I have talked with experts all over the country and have come up with 8 crucial steps to begin and grow an online business.  I am having these experts write these steps out and I will share that with everyone in the group as it is completed.  It will be a free PDF.  The book is called “Concept to Cash Flow – 8 Steps to Starting and Growing Your Online Business”

Dinner after a Webeneur Meetup

I have also decided to personally help 7 individuals with their online businesses.  I am expanding my mentoring services and setting up a special program for the  SF Webeneur group that includes one on one personal mentoring along with group lessons and a master mind group.

If you are serious about getting your business going then email me with a quick description of your business and where you are in the process.  I will respond to everyone and let you know the details, time lines, costs and requirements.

Here is your opportunity to have experienced professional guidance.  Take advantage of it .

Talk to you soon,

Bill

P.s. Is there anything else stopping you from becoming a Mobile World Citizen?

I had a great Trip to…

4 02 2008

Wow, what a great trip I had to NYC at the end of January. As I said before I was invited there by American Express and Meetup.com. They hand selected what they saw to be the top 50 business Meetups in the Nation and sent them all to NYC for 2 days. We had some great brainstorming sessions and I made great friends from all over the country. In fact, as soon as I am done submitting this post I am meeting one of them down the street who has come up to SF from San Diego for a couple of days.

Don’t ask…But it was fun

Let me know what you are up to and what your challenges are. Post them as comments here and I will respond to as many as I can.

For those of you in and around the SF Bay area, are you interested in getting together and talking about what it takes and what you are doing to be a Mobile World Citizen?

Me, Patrick for the East Bay and Ilana from NYC

Talk to you soon,

Bill

P.S. Keep your eyes open for some really cool things getting ready to happen.
